Gethin Jones was quick to offer his Morning Live co-star Dr Punam Krishan support following her second live performance on Strictly Come Dancing. The TV host, along with colleagues Helen Skelton and Jon Kay, gave a huge shoutout to Dr Punam on the BBC One show, branding her "brilliant".
As the camera cut to the BBC Breakfast studio, presenter Jon Kay exclaimed: "We're all loving our friend Dr Punam as well, isn't she brilliant on Strictly!" His comment prompted Gethin to reveal: "She was terrified, but she did brilliantly."
Helen, who competed on Strictly in 2022 and came in second place, then added: "They're just a top team! We're so grateful that she's got Gorka and he's got her." Jon then excitedly said: "Yeah, they're absolutely fantastic, loving it!"
Dr Punam, 41, who regularly appears on Morning Live to give advice and share information, is competing on this year's Strictly Come Dancing with Spanish pro Gorka Marquez. The duo have so far impressed on the dance floor, with their second performance on Saturday, 28 September really getting fans talking.
Gorka and Punam danced the foxtrot to Shania Twain's Man! I Feel Like A Woman! and while their dancing was praised by fans, many were more distracted by Gorka's racy outfit. The dancer sported a black mesh top alongside PVC trousers and a pair of dark black sunglasses as he danced with Dr Punam, who wore a black dress featuring a shirt and tie.
Many fans took to Twitter, now X, as they commented on Gorka's black PVC trousers and mesh top, a nod to Shania Twain's video clip for her her song. "Gorka in a kilt and pvc trousers", a delighted fan penned. Another added: "Gorka will find any excuse to wear latex and see through shirts and I love that for him (and us)", while a third echoed: "There was a dance…?! …my eyes were firmly on @gorkamarquez1".
Dr Punam is competing against fellow celebrities including Tasha Ghouri, Chris McCausland, Pete Wicks, Jamie Borthwick, Nick Knowles, Sam Quek among others. Following the second live show of the series, Olympic champion Tom Dean was sadly voted off the show, making him and pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova the first pair to be eliminated.
Nadiya and Tom faced Toyah Wilcox and Neil Jones in the dreaded dance-off, with the judges ultimately deciding to save Toyah and Neil. Tom's first two performances had gone down well on the show, with him and Nadiya having pulled in 23 points for his tango debut and 20 points for his Cha Cha, which placed him above fellow celebs Nick Knowles, Pete Wicks, Punam Krishan and Paul Merson on the leaderboard.
