Mrs Hinch fans explain 30p hack that will leave your microwave spotless

If the thought of wrestling with your microwave's grime gives you the shivers, Mrs Hinch enthusiasts are spilling their best hacks to get those tricky spots spotless.

From the ceiling to the nooks and crannies, it's surprisingly easy to let bits escape your daily wipe-down, ending up with a mishmash of last week's spaghetti bolognese splattered all over today's meal.

No need to worry, however, as a little forgetfulness can be remedied – leaving your microwave sparkling, even after the messiest food catastrophes. A technique gathering steam amongst expert and endorsed by an ex-catering pro, is hailed as 'the quickest and best way' to cut through those stubborn spills.

So what's this miracle move? Put simply: use warm water with a dash of lemon, and voilà! The method is backed by legions of Mrs Hinch's own followers. In a fervent exchange on Cleaning Tips New, multiple fans concurred that this was their go-to solution.

One advocate shared: "Try bowl of warm water with slice lemon. Put on about minute. Then wipe when finished." Another concurred, "steam it off" with just a bowl of water, and a third mentioned a friend's trick: "My friend puts lemon juice in a dish... puts in microwave.. turns on about 2 minutes... wipes out with nice soapy water. So simple... I was amazed!"

Meanwhile, another chimed in with: "Half a lemon in a jug hot water put in the microwave for 5 minutes leave it don't open the door leave it for a few minutes and then open the door." A fan of the cleaning hack shared: "Cut half a lemon in to pieces pop inside a jug/bowl of water, put in microwave for about 4mins and wipe away.

"You may need to repeat depending on how bad it is to start," while another added: "This is what we did when I was in catering it was the quickest and best way." With lemons being a steal like at where they're just 30p, it's also a wallet-friendly tip. Others suggested alternatives, such as boiling bicarbonate in water or mixing white vinegar with water.

One person also advised keeping things tidy in the future by suggesting: "For the future try a microwave cover, stops all the splashes."
