Netflix fans have been told to watch a new 'ridiculous' film 'with subtitles' or risk 'missing out'.

Hot Frosty was added to the streaming service just last week and has already put many viewers in the festive spirit. However, the writer of the film has posted on social media suggesting that some may not be getting the full effect, with one comedic scene in particular

The synopsis for the film reads: "Two years after losing her husband, Kathy (Lacey Chabert) magically brings a handsome snowman (Dustin Milligan) to life!

"Through his naïveté, the snowman helps Kathy to laugh, feel and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays... and before he melts."

It boasts an impressive cast with Dustin Milligan as the now alive snowman, known for his roles in 90210 and Schitt's Creek, along with Mean Girls alum Lacey Chabert.

Joining them are The Office star Craig Robinson and Joe Lo Truglio who plays Charles in Brooklyn Nine Nine and even Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause.

At one point the film boasted a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and was even placed higher than cinematic classic The Godfather. It has since settled at 89% but is currently the number two most watched film on in the UK.

With its success, the writer of the film, Russell Hainline has praised the work of the team that put the subtitles together for the streaming service, saying: "[mystical chimes tinkling] [curious holiday music playing] [EDM version of Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" plays] I have to say, the Netflix subtitle crew did INCREDIBLE work for this movie."

He made the comments during a live-posting on Blue Sky, as he attended a special screening of the film. During the event he then followed up suggesting that all viewers should turn on the feature as it adds an extra something, even to the comedy scenes.

"If you're not watching HOT FROSTY with subtitles, you're missing out on the description of Joe Lo Truglio's soup noises. I don't want to spoil it. It made me laugh very hard when I saw it."

Viewers who have already watched the film despite there being a good few weeks until Christmas have been full of praise. One posted a review stating: "A cute Christmas movie that is worth watching. A bit ridiculous but knows it's ridiculous so it feels like we're in on the joke of how ridiculous it is."

Others suggested it would become a 'Christmas classic' with another saying: "A snowman turns into a real life hunk. It's a goofy movie set in a quaint town with some wonderfully quirky characters. Put in on your Christmas movie watch list this year!"

Hot Frosty is now streaming on Netflix
