Netflix viewers 'obsessed' with new documentary that made them 'gasp so many times'

Netflix has become renowned for its incredible documentaries which often leave viewers with their jaws on the floor - and the streamer's latest offering is no different.

Its new documentary Martha charts the rise of America's first self-made female billionaire, Martha Stewart, featuring commentary from the woman herself. The businesswoman, now 83, is widely credited as the country's 'original' influencer, leaving her job as a Wall Street stockbroker to build an empire that capitalised on her image as a homemaker.

Her journey began in the early seventies when she launched her own catering company that provided for high-end clients. Less than a decade later, she released her first cook book 'Entertaining' which was a huge success and paved the way for her business to expand into more books, a magazine and a TV show, before she brought everything under one umbrella by forming Martha Stewart Omnimedia.

It all came crashing down when she was sentenced to five months in prison in 2004 over an insider trading scandal. Despite the setback, she spent years turning things back around with a little extra help from .

She had a relationship with the star after interviewing him for her magazine. The singer endorsed her products and engaged with her social media campaigns, and Martha even participated in Comedy Central's Roast of Justin Bieber where she met her now long-time friend, Snoop Dogg. Martha and Snoop have since helmed cooking shows together and they even co-hosted at the Paris Olympics.
