A shop assistant trapped a boy in a back room before taking a photo of him.
Munir Ahmad grabbed the 13-year-old boy and took him to a back room at Corkerhill General Store in and stopped him from leaving.
He then took a photo of the . During a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff , it was heard how there was history between the 46-year-old shopkeeper and the schoolboy before the boy and a friend attended the shop on January 6, 2023.
They both left before the teen returned shortly after and shouted inside the shop, Glasgow Live reports. Prosecutor Hazel Kerr said: "For an unknown reason, Ahmad forcibly grabbed hold of the boy and took him to the back room of the store.
"He did not leave and prevented the boy from leaving. The boy was frightened as Ahmad was larger in frame and did not know what was going to happen."
Ahmad went on to take a picture of the boy and closed the door. Miss Kerr added: "Ahmad waited for a few more seconds before allowing the boy to exit the store."
The boy initially did not tell his parents until they were later informed by relatives that something had happened. Police were contacted and CCTV was viewed which corroborated the boy's version of events.
Ahmad, of the city's Cardonald, was later traced and arrested for the matter. He pled guilty to abducting the boy and detaining him against his will.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Louise Arrol KC who granted Ahmad bail in the meantime.
