Neymar's stance on Premier League transfer as Liverpool speculation emerges

Send Push

Neymar has four teams - including .

His contract with team Al-Hilal is set to expire next summer, sparking speculation about his future. From January, clubs outside of Saudi Arabia can begin talks with Neymar regarding a free transfer in July, unless he signs a new deal with Al-Hilal beforehand.

If no extension is agreed upon, Al-Hilal will face a difficult decision: risk losing Neymar for nothing if negotiations continue or seek a fee in the upcoming transfer window. There's been talk of a return to Santos, where Neymar first made a name for himself, or a move to the Premier League.

During his time at Barcelona, Neymar spoke highly of the English league. As quoted by , he said: "The Premier League is a championship that amazes me. I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows? Someday, I would like to play [in] it, yes. I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool - these are the teams that are always there fighting."

In June, Gilberto Silva suggested that Neymar could be lured back to Europe, naming Arsenal as a possible destination. Speaking to Bet365, the ex-Gunners midfielder said: "I'd love to see Neymar in the Premier League with Arsenal."

"It would bring a lot of joy to fans and make the competition even more special. When you look at the Premier League, we want to see the best players in the world, and to have him around would be great. Let's see. It's not impossible that he could join Arsenal, why not."

Despite the buzz that such a signing would create among fans keen to see Neymar take on the Premier League, his departure from Al Hilal has been ruled out by Pini Zahavi. His agent told Fabrizio Romano: "There are no talks ongoing for Neymar to leave Al-Hilal."

"He's under contract and very happy there. Neymar's father and me, we are the only people who can talk about Ney's future. I don't know where recent rumors are coming from."

Nonetheless, any suggestion of a switch to Liverpool remains pure conjecture, with Feyenoord's boss Arne Slot unlikely to pursue the star forward.
