'One of the best mystery shows ever made' returning for season three much sooner than you think

A stunning female-fronted mystery show is finally gearing up for its third season, and it’s arriving sooner than you might think.

It’s been well over a year since the last chapter wrapped up on Showtime and Paramount+, leaving a legion of fans itching for the next chapter of the grisly tale.

Now, a cryptic teaser trailer has confirmed the upcoming third season is arriving in just a few short months and hinted this could be the bloodiest installment yet.

Starring Hollywood legends like Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis and introducing Elijah Wood in season two and now Hilary Swank and Joel McHale in season three, Yellowjackets will officially return on Valentine’s Day (February 14th) 2025.

A short teaser was released this week, teasing fans: “This eat your heart out.”

The series soon became a cult sensation after airing its first season back in 2022, which followed a high school girls’ soccer team who get stranded in the Canadian wilderness following a plane crash.

After going to desperate and violent lengths to stay alive during their 19 months in the mountains, the action cuts forward to 25 years later when their past comes back to haunt them.

It’s been described as one of the most riveting mystery thrillers of the 2020s so far, with an incredible 96 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Inverse called it the “best cannibal thriller of the decade”, and summed up the show enticingly: “Yellowjackets managed to create a female-led survivor series that kept survival front and centre while weaving in a non-linear story, a massive conspiracy, and supernatural elements.”

Forbes wrote: “It’s one of the best female-led shows out there, in large part because it never engages in silly girlboss tropes and treats each of its characters like well-rounded (and deeply flawed) human beings.

“It’s great. Do yourself a favour and give it a shot,” adding that it made their list of the best shows of 2022.

While The Guardian called season two “even better than last time”, writing “Juliette Lewis is sublime, Christina Ricci finds her perfect co-star and you’re constantly kept on your toes with parallel timelines and tons of creepy thrills. What a follow-up!” in their five-star review.

Yellowjackets has also found plenty of die-hard fans amongst casual TV viewers, with one enthusiast saying on Reddit: “Yellowjackets (2021) was a very pleasant surprise and one of the best horror series I’ve seen the past years.”

To which another replied: “I heard a lot of things about it and binged watched it on a Saturday and wow!

“So ready for more of it! The casting is perfect and the detail into every character really allows you to catch on.”
