And if keeping your peace lily perky through the winter has got you puzzled, don't fret – savvy social media users offer a simple watering trick: "Put a dish underneath your plant. Once a week, water your plant until just a little bit of water comes out of the bottom and starts to spread out into the dish.

"If no water comes out, you've got a clogged pot and - though it's hard to overwater Peace Lilies unless you're drowning him. Pull him out of the pot, clear the drain and/or put some small rocks at the bottom of the pot, and put him back him."
