The ex-Spain international’s deal with the expires at the end of the season and he seemingly left the door open to the possibility of coaching England in a recent interview. “Leaving City? It’s not true, I haven’t decided yet,” Guardiola said when asked about his future on Italian TV show Che tempo Che Fa, as reported by Sky Italia.
“And it is not even true that I will be the next England coach. If I had decided I would say it… I don’t know either, anything can happen.”
Former Chelsea boss is another favourite with the bookmakers for the England job, while Carsley himself is also in with a chance of being given the role on a full-time basis. According to latest odds, Guardiola is the 5/4 favourite to be the next England manager, after being as big as 12/1 last week.

Tuchel remains a strong contender, after being backed into as short as 8/15, but he has since lengthened to 13/8 second favourite. Other notable names in contention include Carsley (7/1), Eddie Howe (7/1), Graham Potter (10/1), Jurgen Klopp (33/1), Jose Mourinho (50/1) and Ange Postecoglou (50/1).

Rumours around the current Manchester City manager's future have hotted up this week with the England national team job emerging as a strong possibility for the Spaniard's next move.
“Ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was as short as 8/15 for the role, but he has now been pushed out to 13/8 and been usurped as favourite by Pep Guardiola.”
