Perrie Edwards hints at Jesy Nelson feud as fans spot clues in new solo track

Send Push

Perrie Edwards has reportedly released a brutal song about her former friendship with Jesy Nelson.

The 31-year-old has been working on her own solo music since decided to take some time off. However, Jesy left the band back in 2020 and it has been well documented that she is no longer friends with her former bandmates.

That's why some fans think that Perrie's new song is about the old friendship. The new track begins: "You go your way, I'll go mine." It continues: "Driving back home, and we both know there's been a little space between us. Hey, please, can you say something first? I don't know, maybe something like 'you go your way, I'll go mine'."

The idea that the song could be about Jesy comes as Perrie opened up earlier this year saying that she penned about a friendship that she no longer has. The mum-of-one also admitted that she can't listen to the lyrics without crying.

When Jesy announced she was leaving Little Mix four years ag, she released a statement where she hinted at a feud between her and her fellow band members, Perrie, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Perrie explained that he own solo career started when the band decided to take a hiatus back in 2021.

Speaking on The Zach Sang Show, Perrie said the song she wrote about the friendship breakdown is very close to her heart. Despite not naming Jesy, Perrie said that the person in question was a huge part of her life and that she still misses their bond now.

She said: "There’s a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song - I can’t even listen to it without crying. It is about them and how we didn’t see eye-to-eye. It’s a really sad song. We don’t talk anymore. They were a big part of my life so it’s sad how it all ended up."

Zach asked if Perrie would ever be willing to make up with the unnamed former friend as Perrie admitted: "I’m open to it. I don’t know if they would be after they hear the song."

The interview came after Perrie has already released two solo tracks. She released her first single Don't Forget About Us back in April and her second track Tears in April. Her debut solo single stayed at number one for two weeks on the Big Top 40 chart and peaked inside the top 10 of the Official Charts.
