'Psychic' who discovered Nicola Bulley's body reveals emotional meeting with her family

A spiritual medium who discovered 's body told of his emotionally charged meeting with her loved ones after she was laid to rest.

And, during the poignant conversation Mr Rothwell had with the family at Blackburn Spiritualist Church, "private issues were discussed". A recent was also filmed, in part, at the church, which is about 20 miles from St Michael's on Wyre.

"I cannot thank them [Blackburn Spiritualist Church] enough for the discretion, for the kindness, for the privacy that they showed to myself and Nicola's family...allowing us to sit together for such a long time and discuss issues that will forever remain between me and her family... I [wanted to] stop cranks, for want of a better word, cashing in on her, her life and the way her life came to an end in the physical sense," Mr Rothwell, from Oldham, Greater , continued.

He continued that "Nicola and her family are the main thing in this whole situation" and remained conscious of the media coverage and online content that had emerged in the wake of her disappearance.

At the time of the intense police search, Mr Rothwell was seen in photographs at the scene and pointing to the waters where Lancashire Police eventually found the body of Ms Bulley.

, which concluded in June 2023, determined her death was due to accidental drowning. The police were criticised for their handling of the case, including releasing private details of Ms Bulley's health and poorly communicating with the media which resulted in public speculation.
