Real Madrid 'makes Trent Alexander-Arnold contact' as Liverpool contract fear becomes real

Liverpool has enjoyed a stunning start to the season under new head coach , who is. The Reds are flawless in cup competitions and are top of the , but contract talks are stopping Liverpool fans from enjoying the moment.

, , and are all out of contract next summer, meaning they're free to begin negotiating with foreign clubs in January if Liverpool doesn't act fast. Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with and the longer Liverpool waits to strike a deal, the higher chance they have of losing him.

According to Madrid-based outlet , Los Blancos has been in contact with Alexander-Arnold's team to discuss his situation and see whether he's open to a potential move. Madrid is keen to target elite players reaching the end of their contracts and already landed Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer after the French forward departed Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid has been chasing Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies for over a year, and with the Canadian yet to sign an extension he too could move to Spain next summer. Madrid has made a point of contacting players near the end of their deals, letting them know of their interest in the hopes that it could deter them from re-signing.

Davies appears set to join Madrid, but the club is also looking to secure a right-back for the future as Dani Carvajal nears the end of his career. Alexander-Arnold is considered one of the best in world soccer, and the opportunity to sign him on a free is something Madrid is desperate for.
