Keane was in agreement. But he asserted something Liverpool may not like about the situation - Alexander-Arnold holds all the power.

"He's in control of all that," Keane said. "You'd like to think Liverpool are trying to get him on a contract. If not then he will go abroad. If Real Madrid want him, that's a good option to have."

While Alexander-Arnold could be ticketed for Madrid one day, Liverpool insider James Pearce emphasized a move would not be happening this season. “There’s absolutely zero chance that Trent [Alexander-Arnold] will go anywhere in January," he said earlier this week.

"I saw some nonsense yesterday about Real Madrid planning a bid for him in January or something. I just don’t believe that’s true. And I certainly don’t believe it for a minute. [It’s] absolute nonsense."
