Luke Shaw has returned to training ahead of .
The left-back has been injured since the season began with the defender making it in the summer. Shaw has comfortably been the club's best player in his position, but only when he's been available.
Erik ten Hag was having to shuffle players into new positions to cover for Shaw's absence. His back-up Tyrell Malacia has also spent lengthy periods out injured.
Amorim though looks as if he'll be able to call upon Shaw as he attempts to improve United's fortunes. Van Nistelrooy has confirmed that Shaw was doing "pitch work and progressing” with the first match under the new regime coming in late November.

The incoming Sporting Lisbon boss will also get the chance to hand Leny Yoro his competitive debut. The young French defender was one of Ten Hag's major arrivals in the summer but picked up a major injury in pre-season, which was a major blow.
United have struggled defensively but Yoro, who also had interested in him, is now closing in on a return to first-team action. That will also aim Amorim who is likely to try and implement his 3-4-3 formation with the back three the most challenging aspect for the players.
Yoro will bolster Amorim's options with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof all on the club's books. Shaw has also filled in impressively as a centre-back in the past and has also played in a back three system with England.
Ten Hag may be looking on enviously and had claimed, during the run of poor results that led to his sacking, that people should judge his team towards the end of the season.
He said: "We will get there. Don't judge us in this moment, judge us at the end of the season. I said the same last season, just wait. We are in the process, we will improve and we have now two seasons where we achieved finals."
In Ten Hag's penultimate game he also bemoaned the fact United's injuries were halting their progress. "Yes, it holds us back in our levels and also in our position in the league," he said. "When you don’t have the players available, you can't line up the best team."
