Ruben Amorim 'impresses Man Utd chiefs' with key trait that Erik ten Hag lacked

Ruben Amorim has reportedly left impressed already, just days after his arrival at the club, after displaying "charisma" and "an air of self assurance".

The 39-year-old has got to work at Old Trafford, tasked with reviving the club's fortunes following a dismal season so far that has seen the Red Devils slump to 13th in the table after the sacking of .

Amorim has insisted he feels calm about the job on his hands despite the huge pressure of being a manager and the lowly position the club find themselves in.

According to the , Amorim has already made himself at home by showing his charismatic side since arriving at the club this week - dropping in on a group of fans who were on an Old Trafford tour before chatting with them and posing for photos.

The report says the early signs for Amorim are "positive" with club officials impressed by the "air of self assurance" from the manager they paid around £10million to bring in from Sporting Lisbon.

Amorim replaced Ten Hag after the Dutchman led United to their worst ever start to a Premier League season, with fans quickly turning on the ex-Ajax boss after complaining that the team lacked leadership and organisation.

Amorim's reported "charisma" is something that after interviewing for the job in 2021, with the club opting to give the role to Nuno Espirito Santo instead.

United's new coach will have given fans reasons for optimism this week after his first interview discussing his vision for the club after being hired mid-season.

"I'm really, really proud to be a Manchester United coach, so it's amazing," he said. "It's a real honour to be here. I feel very relaxed. Maybe because it’s not gameday. When we have a game I'm a different guy, but I really don't feel the weight.

"You watch on TV and you know that it's big and it's impressive - but when you are here, you can feel it and I think you feel the history. I'm really excited and I'm quite relaxed. I think I am where I am supposed to be. That's the feeling."

Amorim's first game in charge will be a trip to Ipswich Town on November 24 before home games against Bodo/Glimt in the and in the Premier League. He then faces his first big test against on December 4.
