Ex- favourite Wes Brown reckons Rasmus Hojlund must quickly show new boss why the club doesn't need to invest in Viktor Gyokeres.
Sweden striker Gyokeres is heavily tipped to follow Amorim from Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford with the outfit one of many top European clubs considering making a move in the summer. But Brown, who made almost 250 appearances for United, believes Danish forward Hojlund has the chance to demonstrate that he can do the job up front.
Amorim has now taken his first training session and will be in charge for the first time when United visit Ipswich on Sunday. There is plenty expectation on him to immediately start turning things around with the fallen giants languishing in 13th. Hojlund hasn't netted in any of his last six games and only scored twice in 12 appearances this term.

But Brown, 46, said: "Rasmus Hojlund works hard and does everything to help the team.
"I think his team-mates need to create more chances. He isn’t given the ball enough in the box to allow him chances to get the ball into the back of the net. He has every right to be frustrated because he just wants chances, but United fans still love him because he gives it everything.
“When a new manager comes in it’s a fresh start and Amorim has a great group of players to choose from. It’s up to Hojlund to get off to a quick start."
In an interview with , Brown added: "United have been linked to Viktor Gyokeres and it’s almost up to Hojlund to show Amorim why he isn’t needed at the club.
"He needs to get involved and finish his chances to make sure he’s in the starting XI every week. If Gyokeres comes in, it almost says to the players that they are not good enough. So it’s about stepping things up in matches but also in training, otherwise it would be normal for the manager to bring someone in that he knows well.”
