Stoke shopping centre horror as woman suddenly dies inside Potteries Centre as police lock down road

A customer has died the main shopping centre in Stoke-on-Trent, a spokesperson has confirmed.

The shopper died after falling ill at the Potteries Centre, triggering a swift emergency response. Police and paramedics were seen sealing off a section of Town Road at about 1pm today.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson told The Mirror: “We were called at 12.35pm to a medical emergency on Town Road in Stoke on Trent. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman in a critical condition.

"She received advanced life support from ambulance staff at the scene. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff it became clear that nothing more could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”

A spokesperson for The Potteries Centre expressed their condolences in a statement to affiliate , adding: "We are very sorry to say that a customer became unwell at The Potteries Centre today. The on-site team responded immediately and paramedics were called and attended very quickly.

"But despite our team and the medical team's best efforts the lady passed away. Our deepest sympathies are with her family and friends at this time."

Photos taken outside the centre showed several police vehicles were parked along the road.
