Strictly Come Dancing's Toyah Willcox shares four-word admission about 'tough' experience

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Toyah Willcox opened up about her ‘tough’ experience as she shared a four-word admission and said “I’m used this”

The singer and actress, 66, is no longer competing in the competition with professional dance partner Neil Jones as she became the second star to leave the show.

At the time, Toyah and Neil took to the floor with their Samba to Poor Unfortunate Souls from Little Mermaid but they didn’t do enough to impress the judges or viewers watching at home.

She landed in the bottom for a second week after scoring just 15 out 40 and lost the dreaded dance off against footballer Paul Merson and Karen Hauer following Movie Week.

Following her exit, Toyah appeared on the Sunday (November 17) episode of Love Your Weekend alongside host Alan Titchmarsh.

Alan couldn’t help but quiz the star on her experience on the show following recent controversies on alleged inappropriate behaviour.

The TV star asked: “There has been quite a bit of controversy about it, of late. So you didn’t feel threatened at all and you enjoyed the experience.”

Toyah claimed that she has worked with tougher directors during her 45 years in the industry as they insisted that Strictly was a “fantastic opportunity” and she “loved every second”.

The singer, who shot to fame in the late 70s when she fronted the eponymous band Toyah, explained: “I’ve been in the business for 45 years and I’ve been criticised every day in my life so I’m used to it.”

She continued: “I’m also used to being a woman having to prove myself so you toughen up to it and I still believe that it was a fantastic opportunity. Everyday opportunities will happen for me and I worked incredibly hard to make the most of it. I loved every second and it’s as simple as that.”

The star made a candid admission as she said: “I’ve worked with tougher directors. I’ve worked with George Cukor, who directed Judy Garland on A Star Is Born and he shouted everyday at not only me.”

In a four-word response she claimed: “I’m used to this.” She added: “When you are at the top it's tough, it’s so tough.”
