The fallout from Wynne Evans' actions towards on the latest continues to rumble on.
Russian professional dancer Katya, 35, has tried to clear up the incident and play it down as an "inside joke" between the pair. Fans were stunned on Saturday as they watched the , 52, appearing to attempt to put his hand . The dancer was seen brushing it off and looking uncomfortable before he tries it again.
Fans also noticed the professional dancer appear to snub Wynne's high five attempt during the live show. Viewers cringed after the cast celebrated Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin's Samba. Wynne went to high five his partner, but Katya was having none of it and turned around to face the camera after the shun. Wynne seemed to put his head in hands in shock at the "running joke", as the show continued.
The shock by viewers led to Katya trying to clear up the incident. However, online users slammed her comments as "irresponsible" and took aim at the star.
In Katya's video, she said: "Happy Sunday everyone. Now, I need to make something crystal clear. The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was an inside, a very silly, very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or it offended me in any way is complete nonsense. It's quite absurd actually."
She ended by pleading": "Now, can we just focus on how brilliantly he's doing and what an amazing dancer he is becoming." He acknowledgement was cut short after she rushed off to receive a delivery at her home.
However, fans weren't impressed, with one user on /X writing: "This is very irresponsible of you Katya. You are sending a message out to women saying, this creepy behaviour from a man is ok and acceptable and shouldn’t feel uncomfortable. It’s very clear what’s going on here."
Another added: "IF it was a joke, it’s unbelievably crass considering what’s been going on at SCD. It trivialises a really important subject. Read the room, as we used to say." A follower agreed with the user, replying: "It was so ill advised in the current circumstances."
While others said they didn't believe Katya's response and hit out at the ill timed "joke", another added: "Even if this is true. It's unprofessional and uncomfortable for the viewers."
Despite the backlash, some viewers were quick to jump to the pair's defence. One user wrote: "Ok.. she has spoken. Happy to leave it now tbh."
This weekend's shows saw Nick Knowles exit the competition. The DIY SOS star had just returned from injury but lost out in a dance off to Shayne Ward and was sent packing.
