The Apprentice's Tom Pellereau shares key to partnership with Lord Sugar after 13 years

Entrepreneur has teased the key to success over his long-standing relationship with after winning more than a decade ago.

Tom, now 45, secured a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar, now 77, on the seventh series of the show in 2011 and went on to launch beauty business STYLIDEAS. It was the first time that an investment had been offered in the competition, as previous winners were given a job instead.

It was exclusively revealed by earlier this year - prior to the most recent series - that Tom was who were still in business with Lord Sugar. Last month, he supported Tom, who's said to have built a multi-million pound business, at the launch of new products.

Sharing his thoughts on why he's enjoyed a long-term partnership with Lord Sugar, whilst most other winner's have parted ways with the Amstrad founder, Tom told : "I think it's really helped me that I do products, and that was his origin. You know, he started with car aerials, car stereos, then consumer electronics, so he really likes products and he has a lot to offer me in terms of helping with retailer dealings and with suppliers and that sort of thing."

Tom continued: "I think some of the other businesses, which were a bit different, I think maybe there was less synergy, so to speak." During the interview, he gave a further insight into the partnership, including about their meetings.

He told the outlet that there are board meetings every two months at least which last "a couple of hours". Tom said he takes along the "latest items" from his brands, adding that Lord Sugar "loves" engaging with them and giving feedback. Tom said that his parter "usually gets very hands on" with the products.

Discussing the dynamic in their relationship, Tom shared at the launch event recently that Lord Sugar has "always put a lot of pressure" on him to succeed. He went on to compare him to a headteacher that gives a pupil a "hard time". He further commented that other people have suggested that Lord Sugar "quite likes" Tom, who teased that he has a "very funny way of showing it". The Apprentice winner further told the outlet that they have had "some ups and some downs".
