The Voice UK fans demand petition to release cover version of song after two coaches perform

McFly fans were in for a treat during Saturday night's episode of The Voice UK as Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher performed a rendition of the Backstreet Boys hit song I Want It That Way.

As they waited for the next contestant to take to the stage, the pair whipped out their guitars for an impromptu performance which left fellow coaches Tom Jones, Will.i.am and LeAnn Rimes mesmerised.

After the performance, the long-time pals were treated to a thundering round of applause from the audience before the next singer took to the stage.

Viewers at home were equally impressed and flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions.

One person asked: "Where do we start the petition to get @TomFletcher @itsDannyJones, @DougiePoynter & @mcflyharry to release the @mcflymusic version of @thebackstreetboys "I Want It That Way"?! @thevoiceuk #TheVoiceUK."

Another fan gushed: "I need the @itsDannyJones and @TomFletcher version of I Want it that way released ASAP so I can listen to it on repeat #thevoiceuk."

Somebody else penned: "Errr... @mcflymusic sooo need to release a cover of "I want it that way" now!! #TheVoiceuk #Backstreetboys."

Yet another wrote: "I need Tom and Danny's version of I want it that way on Spotify please and thank you #TheVoiceUK."

While a fifth added: "Loved Danny and Tom singing backstreet boys tonight #TheVoiceUK."

Tom and Danny made history by being the first pair to share one seat as a duo for the first time in the past 13 series.

Danny previously was a coach on The Voice Kids but this is the first time he's appearing on the regular version.

The pair aren't the only new coaches as they're joined by US singer LeAnn Rimes who made her debut this season.

Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones are the only coaches that have been on the show since the very beginning, appearing in all 13 series.

The pair debuted on the show back in 2012 and were joined by The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue and singing superstar Jessie J.

The Voice UK continues next Saturday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
