This Morning issues tribute to show's star Trevor Sorbie just weeks after final appearance

ITV show This Morning has paid tribute to contributor Trevor Sorbie following his death from cancer at the age of 75.

- who appeared on ITV's to give hair care advice - told fans just weeks ago that he had been told a cancer he had been first diagnosed with in 2019 had spread. And on Friday, his team confirmed that he had tragically passed away following his brave fight against the disease.

After his condition worsened, Trevor was told that chemotherapy treatment could help extend his life expectancy, but he boldy turned down the offer of the medication. Speaking about his decision on , he said: "I can't face any more of that poison."

Following news of his death, This Morning posted a tribute to its official account saying: "We’re saddened to hear the news that Trevor Sorbie MBE has passed away at the age of 75. We were honoured to have him share his story with us a few weeks ago, and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends."

It comes just weeks after Trevor bravely appeared on the ITV show where hetold hosts and , he "might not make ".

Joined by his wife, Carole, in the studio, he said: “I lost a lot of blood one night and I was unusually disturbed about that. I went to the hospital and they told me I had bowel cancer.

"I had a little panic attack and Carole and I looked at each other and we were just both speechless walking down the road… I didn’t know what to say. I went and had a big gin and tonic and that helped! But then it spread to my liver, I had a six hour operation, but it came back to my liver, had another operation, and now the major [growth] they won't cut it out because it’s too close to a major blood vessel."

On Friday, his family announced his death. An emotional post on his page read: "It is with heartfelt emotion that we share the passing of our esteemed founder, Trevor Sorbie MBE. Trevor passed away peacefully with his family and beloved dog by his side. Trevor’s journey, marked by unparalleled creativity and kindness, has left an indelible mark on the of hairdressing and beyond."
