If you receive a message from the DVLA in your Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook inbox beware. It appears that scammers are using this official Vehicle Licensing Ageceny to scare unsuspecting motorists into handing over personal and private information. Those fooled could then find themselves at higher risk of a cyber attack or having accounts hacked.
This new alert has been issued by the team at Action Fraud with security experts saying they have received over one thousand reports of UK drivers being contacted by the 'DVLA'.
The email message claims that road users haven't paid their car tax and need to take urgent action to avoid being hit by a hefty fine. A sample message has also been shared which asks users to verify their payment methods.

Getting a message from the DVLA is clearly scary but that fear is exactly what the cyber crooks are trying to create as it makes it more likely that email users will act without thinking first.
If you find a message claiming to be from the DVLA and it suggests that you haven't paid your car tax be very wary.
