Tom Kim learns punishment after PGA Tour star's outburst left locker room damaged

Tom Kim has received a warning from the KPGA after the South Koreanfollowing the Genesis Championship last month.

Kim missed out on winning on home soil in agonising fashion, losing in a playoff to fellow countryman An Byeong-hun after the pair were tied at the top on 17-under-par after 72 holes. In the aftermath of the event an image of a damaged locker surfaced on social media.

It was claimed that the damage was caused by the star following an outburst at the Jack Nicklaus Club on the back of his playoff defeat to his Presidents Cup teammate.

Almost two weeks on, a KPGA committee held a meeting on Wednesday to determine the outcome of Kim's actions, as the 22-year-old avoided a severe punishment, with just a warning according to . Kim has also offered to pay for the damage caused.

Following the incident and the damage making its way onto social media, to his followers, and in doing so slammed 'false reporting' of the damange being intentional. "After the loss, I was frustrated, yes absolutely..." he wrote. on social media.

"But I can assure you with absolute truth that I had no intent of damaging any part of the locker - not a single bit. "I addressed it with the DP World Tour and the KPGA right after the incident saying that the door came off. We had to fully pull it off due to safety reasons, I also let them know that I was willing to pay all expenses for the damage."

At the time Kim did claim that no disciplinary action would be taken against him after offering an apology to the KPGA and DP World Tour. "There has also been speculation about disciplinary action. I spoke to the tour immediately after the incident.

"After my apology and offer to pay damages, the matter was considered closed. I am grateful to everyone that has reached out with messages of support. But to them, and everyone else I may have let down, I apologise with all my heart. Love, Tom."

Kim has been involved in plenty of controversy in recent months. Aside from his DP World Tour outburst, the youngster also clashed with a number of members of Team USA including , Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele. Speaking to the media at Royal Montreal Club, Kim hit out at his rivals' sportsmanship during day three of the event.
