Vinnie Jones admits he was 'f***ing p***ed off' over Clarkson's Farm: 'It was my idea first'

Vinnie Jones has admitted he was "f***ing p***ed off" with over Clarkson's Farm, fuming that he "had the idea" first.

The former footballer, 59, is now an actor and documentary maker, and the second series of his own agriculture show Vinnie Jones In The Country is set for release on November 20. It will air on Discovery Plus, and the format may seem familiar, with former Top Gear host's Jeremy Clarkson starring in a similar show.

Vinnie's series sees him take on 2,000 acres of a West Sussex farm - but don't say he is copying Clarkson, because Vinnie claims the idea was originally his. Clarkson's Farm sees the presenter trying his hand at farming on in Oxfordshire, alongside his trainer and pal . He named the farm Diddly Squat, because he says that's how much profit the venture makes him.

Vinnie has admitted he's not happy with The Grand Tour host, who has taken his new show to Amazon Prime Video, saying it he came up with the idea for the show. He said six years ago he send a three minute video pitch to all the broadcasters, showing him on a quad bike talking about nature.

Speaking to The , he revealed: "And they were, like, ‘Oh, we love it, but you know, we’d rather see you with Bradley Walsh or wrestling a bear.’ And I’m, like, ‘That’s not where I’m going. I want to show people that I could leave most people behind on my knowledge of the countryside.’ ”

Not giving up on his novel idea, he presented a YouTube show instead, which he called The Crafty Countryman. He said it "went nuts", but then Clarkson's Farm was released on Amazon, with Vinnie saying he'd "beaten it". But of course - Clarkson's series was an absolute hit, with Vinnie admitting he was annoyed, before backtracking and adding he doesn't want "any negativity whatsoever to come out from me to Clarkson’s Farm, because I am the biggest fan of it. Sure, sure, sure. But I was f***ing p***ed off, because I’d already had the idea."

Vinnie has previously spoken abou this love for Clarkson's series, saying it is the "biggest thing to happen" to Britain in decades. In a previous interview with The Telegraph, he said: "Clarkson’s Farm has been the biggest thing to happen for the country for thirty years. I’m not sure some of these programmes like Springwatch and Countryfile tell a strong enough story for the countryside. Chris Packham goes too much the other way."

Back in May, it was revealed that the TV personality is also expected to give viewers an insight into his new-found relationship with his girlfriend Emma Frost. Since the first series of his documentary aired, the star found love with Emma following the tragic death of his beloved wife Tanya, who passed away in 2019 following treatment for cancer. It was also reported that he asked that filming regarding his romance be sensitive to the fact he lost his wife a few years ago, as it's still a process for friends and family.
