Wataru Endo wanted by 3 Premier League clubs as Liverpool midfielder draws transfer interest

Wataru Endo could leave Liverpool as early as January as three Premier League clubs reportedly closely monitor his situation.

The Reds midfielder was linked with a move away from Anfield during the summer after reportedly failing to impress new manager in pre-season, leading the Dutchman to convert into his new primary defensive midfielder despite being a natural in that role.

The Japan international then became the subject of a $15million (£12m/€14m) bid from French outfit Marseille in July, after admitting it was not actively looking to sell a player it had only signed 12 months before from Stuttgart.

However, with Endo making just four appearances in all competitions so far this season, of which just one was a start against in the , speculation surrounding his Anfield future continues to grow.

The 31-year-old has in the side this season but the latest reports now claim he is open to a move away from Merseyside if it means he is guaranteed more regular minutes elsewhere.

And according to , Liverpool is also ready to listen to offers of around $16.4-21.9m (£8.4-12.5m/€15-20m) for the Japanese midfielder, who is being closely monitored by trio , , and ahead of the January transfer window.

Endo's contract at Anfield runs until June 2027 yet it appears the Reds are not interested in sending him out on loan, preferring instead to receive a fee for a player who turns 32 in four months' time.

But Endo has plenty of experience at this level and racked up 44 appearances across all competitions under last season, meaning he is a worthy option to have in the squad in the event of injuries and suspensions to Liverpool's primary midfielders.

The Reds must also contend with a hectic schedule between now and the New Year, with 17 fixtures across three competitions set to be played from October 20 to December 29 - and that's without factoring in a potential Carabao Cup quarter-final should they make it through the next round.

But should Endo fail to receive the required game time he needs, an exit could well and truly be on the cards by the time the January transfer window rolls around.
