star Wynne Evans looked glum as he explained the 'stupid joke that went wrong' from this weekend's show.

Another moment showed him going in for a high five but getting ignored by Katya before she turned around to face the camera after the shun. On Monday morning, Wynne appeared on radio and defended what happened as he explained that he and Katya were "messing around".

Speaking on Radio Wales, where he hosts a programme, he explained: "I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke.

"It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya’s socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke. She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable.

"We've got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that's all there is. There is no real story, really." Katya and Wynne performed a Tango to Abba's Money Money Money. during the show, and the judges praised Wynne's improvement for the second week running, reflected in an impressive score of 34 out of 40.

After the clip was shared widely on social media, the dancing duo rushed to their pages to explain what really happened, telling fans it was simply a "joke". Addressing concerned fans in a video, Katya began: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke." Wynne added: "Yes sorry."

In the caption, Wynne explained: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones." But fans were less interested in the high fives and commented about opera singer Wynne's wandering hand on Katya's waist, although there is no suggestion on the show that he behaved inappropriately.
