Wife's affair with toyboy ends in horrific double murder as four kids left orphaned

A wife's affair with a toyboy ended in a horrific on the courthouse steps after she and her husband were ambushed by her ex-lover.

Rachael Martinez, 31, and Jose Medina, 39, were brutually shot dead while sitting in their car waiting to enter court in San Diego, California on Wednesday. They were asking the court for a permanent restraining order against alleged suspect and Martinez's ex Christopher Farrell, 26.

After gunning down the husband and wife, Farrell was shot and killed following an exchange with police. The couple's four children have been left orphaned.

According to court documents, Martinez had been having an affair with Farrell for several weeks, but it stopped when Medina found out in September. However, when she met with her toyboy and asked him to leave her alone, she claimed he was violent towards her, which prompted them to file restraining orders against the 26-year-old.

Secruity guard Farrell was axed from his job at the Metropolitan Transit System office, and he was initially arrested after Martinez alleged domestic violence, false imprisonment and sex crimes in her restraining order. However, cops said the "case had insufficient evidence and corroboration to immediately move forward", and Farrell was released from jail.

But just days later, the couple would appear in court for a hearing over Martinez's restraining order. A judge granted Martinez's restraining order on October 7, and Medina filed a separate order against Farrell the next day, according to court documents. On Wednesday morning, Martinez and Medina were scheduled for a hearing over her case at 9am when police said they received reports of shots fired at 8.22am. A witness spotted Farrell hiding from police behind an electrical box after fleeing.

The tragedy left Martinez's family heartbroken. "I hugged my little nephews and carried them home last night," Rachael Martinez’s sister, Charlene Martinez, said. "That actually made me feel like very sad because they don’t have their mom to give them a good night kiss. They don’t have their dad to give them a good night kiss."

Martinez claims while police were investigating the alleged sexual assault of Rachael Martinez after the breakup, they should have confiscated all his weapons.

Jose Medina’s brother was left in tears at the family vigil Thursday night. “I never imagined that my brother and his partner would die in that manner. They didn’t deserve it. They loved each other very much. My brother fought to have his family together,” Raul Medina said.
