Woman leaves people gobsmacked as she devours luxury banquet after giving birth

When it comes to hospital , the dishes are often known for being bland and uninviting. Yet, in Japan it appears to be a different story; one woman has stunned people with the banquet she enjoyed after giving birth.

Content creator Taye Kovacos recently welcomed her second daughter into the . The mum is from Perth in , but recently moved to Japan with her family. She had a C-section in hospital and said her experience was "great" on her TikTok page. "The doctors did an amazing job and the nurses are so friendly, helpful and caring," she said.

But the thing at Oshio Women's Clinic that Taye dubbed the "chef's kiss" was the food. The dishes included things you would find served in a restaurant.

She had a soup with garnish, steak, lobster and bread rolls to enjoy. Her dessert options were presented with decorative food and flowers as well as 'hello babe' written in chocolate on one plate. While resting in hospital after the surgery for a week, she also enjoyed a sushi box, colourful noodles, fresh fish accompanied with soy sauce, a salmon fillet, and stew.

Her post went viral - raking in over 2.5million views - and people cannot believe it. "Crying in Polish hospital food," said one. "Crying in Dutch hospital food," said another European. "Crying in German hospital food," agreed another.

A Brit added: "In the UK we get a slice of toast and a weak cup of tea." A US resident pointed out: "Jaw dropped. So yummy and nutritious. American healthcare is so behind and unreasonably expensive."

One other wrote: "That looks amazing. I'm in Norway, hospital food here is bland and tasteless." An Italy resident added: "They gave me a piece of bread in a bag and some slices of ham."

Another said: "Watch me fly to Japan every times I'm pregnant just to give birth in a Japanese hospital for this." "You can see the care in nutrition," pointed out one other.

One mum who also gave birth in Japan said: "I gave birth in Kumamoto in February! The way I didn’t want to leave the hospital because of how good the food was."

A post also went viral on Reddit when one mum said: "I gave birth to my son last month and here are some of the meal I had in hospital." She had 10 meals over the course of three days and the dishes looked like they came straight from a restaurant or luxury hotel.

"My jaw is on the floor," one individual commented. "Oh my lord that looks incredible," said another.

A report by Global Health and Medicine states that Japan's healthcare system is highly regarded internationally, as the country achieved universal healthcare coverage in the 1960s. There are very few treatments that are not covered by health insurance, and services covered are provided in an extremely fair, equal, and inexpensive manner.
