Woman's 'chaotic' way she cooks bacon - and people are amazed

We all have our preferences when it comes to how crispy we like our bacon - but most of us can agree that a limp rasher with a soggy and wet rind is far from appetising.

Even if you're not a fan of bacon so crispy it snaps, few would argue that it shouldn't be crispy at all. Sadly, achieving this perfect level of crispiness isn't straightforward, especially if you want to avoid burnt spots or undercooked areas on your rashers.

However, a TikTok user claims she's found a foolproof method for evenly cooked bacon every time - without changing your frying technique. The woman, known as Emily, shared a video on her @missemilybeer account where she detailed her "chaotic" hob-cooking method for "super crispy and delicious" bacon. She starts by dumping her bacon into a cold, oil-free frying pan, which she then places on a "medium-high" heat.

It's worth noting that Emily uses streaky bacon for this hack. As the bacon warms and starts to cook, she moves it around the pan to separate the rashers, ensuring they cook evenly. The key to the hack lies in Emily's decision to forego oil altogether, instead relying on the bacon's own fat to cook it to perfection.

As the meat begins to sizzle, the rendered fat serves as the cooking medium, allowing the bacon to essentially fry in its own juices. Emily explained: "You see all of the fat that's rendering out of it, that is what you want because we're essentially frying our bacon in its own fat."

She attributes the bacon's "extra crispy" texture to this self-sufficient cooking method, emphasising the importance of not adding any extra substances to the pan. Emily cooks the bacon at a consistent temperature, never adjusting the heat, and achieves remarkably even results.

The finished product boasts a satisfying crunch and a notable absence of burnt or undercooked areas. The hack left TikTok commenters astounded, with many expressing their surprise at Emily's ability to produce such impressive results without separating the bacon into smaller batches.

One user exclaimed: "So you're telling me I don't have to only cook four pieces next to each other at a time?" While another grateful commenter added: "I was never taught how to cook bacon and this is not how I cook it. So thank you for teaching me."
