All schools up to class 5th have been closed in Delhi and arrangements have been made for online classes for these children. The classes of these children will run online till further orders.
Delhi schools have been closed for children up to class 5th from today. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi gave this information on Thursday. Giving information on her X account, she said that in view of the rising pollution level in the state, physical classes of all schools up to class 5 in Delhi have been closed till further instructions, now the classes of these children will be conducted online. Let us tell you that after the pollution reached dangerous levels, the Central Pollution Monitoring Agency CAQM imposed restrictions under GRAP-3 in Delhi-NCR from today, Friday.
CM told the reason
The air quality of the national capital remained in the 'severe' category for the second consecutive day, due to which the authorities had to take strict steps to stop pollution. The restrictions are coming into effect from today, Friday. CM Atishi, who is also handling the education department, said in a post on X, "Due to rising pollution levels, all primary schools in Delhi will run online classes till further instructions."
In view of this, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed the principals of all government, private, Delhi Municipal Corporation and New Delhi Municipal Council schools not to call children up to class 5 to school, DoE said that arrangements should be made for online classes for them till further orders.
When does GRAP come into force?
For information, let us tell you that the measures to be taken under the third phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) announced by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) include transferring schools up to class 5 to online mode. GRAP for the National Capital Region (NCR) is classified into four different stages of adverse air quality in Delhi: Stage I - 'Poor' (AQI 201-300); Stage II - 'Very Poor' (AQI 301-400); Stage III – 'severe' (AQI 401-450); and Stage IV – 'severe plus' (AQI >450).
