Friends, you will be surprised to know that the Indian Railways Department is the fourth largest department in the world, which runs thousands of trains daily, and more than 25 million passengers travel daily. With many facilities available for passengers, trains are a popular option for short-distance trips. Many times passengers miss the train, which is not only your financial loss but can also be inconvenient for you, let's know what facilities the Railway Department provides you in case of missing the train-
Indian Railways offers a solution to minimize this loss: Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) facility.
What is TDR?
TDR stands for Ticket Deposit Receipt, a provision that allows passengers to claim a refund if they miss their train.
Filing TDR on time:
It is important to file a TDR within one hour of the scheduled departure of the train. Claims filed after this time will not be eligible for refund.
How to file TDR:
For offline booking:
Visit the railway ticket counter, fill out the TDR form, and submit it in person.
For online booking:
Log in to the IRCTC website or app.
Go to the “Train” option, where you will find the option to file TDR.
Select the ticket for which you want to file TDR and select the appropriate reason for filing.
Submit the TDR form.
Refund process:
Once you file the TDR, expect to receive your refund within 60 days.
Using the TDR facility, passengers can save themselves from financial losses caused due to unforeseen circumstances that lead to a missed train.
