'All Of Them…' Did Amitabh Bachchan troll Elon Musk For Declaring X A Journalism Platform?

Send Push

Amitabh Bachchan has been an active X user and has been putting out an opinion on the social media platform for years, but he recently commented on Elon Musk and his vision for X.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, bought Twitter in 2022 and renamed it X.

He has been advocating for more public opinions and discussions and that is why Elon has stated that X should be treated as a public information platform where we should promote ‘citizen journalism’.

What is citizen journalism?

According to Elon Musk, citizens should take charge of spreading information and news rather than depending on the traditional media.

This way, the information would reach people much faster.

Amitabh Bachchan’s comment

Commenting on Elon’s idea, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on X, “T 5198 - What name has brother 'Elon' used to promote his X. citizen journalism ..Earlier there were probably eight to nine thousand renowned journalists in India. Now they have become one hundred and forty crore, and 7.5+ billion worldwide...And all of them....!!!!! Yes!!!”

While I sense sarcasm in Amitabh Bachchan’s comment, it is not clear whether he is supporting Elon’s vision or is indirectly trolling him.

Elon’s Advocacy

Upon being asked about the prominence of citizen journalism at Cannes Lions this year, Elon said, “This is really going to be the new model of news, which is to gather information from people who are at the scene, who are experts in the field, summarize the experts in the field and people who are at whatever events is being talked about, and aggregate that into a real-time news feed. I think, for the most part, that will be better than conventional journalism. You've got real-time aggregation of the collective wisdom of tens of millions of people. Although something may be said that is incorrect, it is very quickly corrected. Whereas a newspaper that is publishing, what happened yesterday, when you read the article, that article could be wrong, often is wrong, but there's no rebuttal to the article.”

Elon has commented on this agenda multiple times and he has always supported people forming their own opinions rather than getting manipulated by public figures and media websites.
