Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], November 9 (ANI): The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) of the Indian Navy conducted a comprehensive anti-hijack exercise on November 6 at Visakhapatnam Airport, simulating a hijack scenario to test and validate the response procedures.
The exercise, coordinated by INS Dega, aimed to assess the effectiveness of the airport's contingency plan and ensure proper inter-agency coordination in the event of a hijack situation.
It involved multiple agencies, including INS Dega, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the National Security Guard (NSG), the Airport Authority of India, and state government agencies.
The drill focused on safeguarding passenger safety and testing the readiness of all involved parties. The exercise was followed by a debrief to identify key learnings and revalidate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
This annual drill, which is a requirement under the National Civil Aviation Security Programme, emphasises the commitment of INS Dega and associated agencies to ensure swift and effective responses in hijack-like situations, reaffirming their preparedness to manage such contingencies. (ANI)
