Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], November 11 (ANI): The Special Judge for CBI cases, Ahmedabad on Monday sentenced Kishanram Hiralal Sonkar, then Manager of Finance and Accounts (F&A) Officer at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Ankleshwar Asset to three years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25 Lakh in a case related to possession of disproportionate assets, said CBI a statement on Monday.
CBI had registered the case on 29.06.2006 against accused Kishanram Hiralal Sonkar, then Manager, F&A, ONGC, Ankleshwar Asset, Ankleshwa on the allegations that the accused during the period 01.10.2002 to 21.06.2006, had amassed assets disproportionate to his known source of income to the tune of Rs 14,11,310 which was 84 per cent in excess to his known source of income.
After the completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed by CBI on 24.01.2008 against then Manager, F&A, ONGC, Ankleshwar Asset, Ankleshwar for amassing assets to the tune of Rs. 22,15,609 disproportionate to his known source of income, during the check period 01.01.2000 to 01.07.2006 which is 62% in excess to his known source of income.
The Court, after trial, found the accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly. (ANI)
