Pune (Maharashtra) [India], November 14 (ANI): Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and LoP Jairam Thakur on Thursday launched a scathing attack against the Congress party, and said that they have given false guarantees to the public before the elections in Himachal Pradesh.
He further emphasised the importance of forming the NDA government in Maharashtra for the sake of the state's development.
"Congress party gave false guarantees to the public before the elections in the Himachal Pradesh. They gave ten guarantees and haven't fulfilled even one of those guarantees. Here the leaders of Congress are saying that we have fulfilled all the guarantees in Himachal Pradesh," said Jairam Thakur in Maharashtra's Pune.
"Such a situation has arisen in Himachal Pradesh that the state government does not have money to give salaries to employees. It is important to form the NDA government in Maharashtra for the development of the state," he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that if the Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA) gains power in Maharashtra, it will bring back the era of droughts and the water crisis in the poll-bound State.
"The Agadhi alliance will make you beg for every drop of water, that is why I tell the mothers and sisters that they should not even let the alliance get in power, otherwise they will make you beg for water," said PM Modi.
The campaigning has intensified for the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra with both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) making efforts to woo the electorate.
The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20 and counting will be held on November 23.
In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly polls, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress 44. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, MVA posed a strong performance winning 30 of 48 seats, while the Mahayuti could only win 17. (ANI)
