New Delhi [India], October 8 (ANI): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir after Congress-NC's alliance surpassed halfway mark in assembly election, saying that the coalition government will make every effort to fulfil citizens' 'aspirations.'
Taking to X Kharge wrote, "Heartfelt thanks to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for giving the Congress Party and the National Conference alliance the opportunity to serve. Our coalition government will make every effort to fulfil your aspirations. The INDIA coalition is fully committed to protecting your well-being and constitutional rights."
As per the trends by the Election Commission of India (ECI), National Conference-Congress alliance is on course to form a government in J-K.
The Congress-National Conference alliance has surpassed the halfway mark by winning 49 out of 90 seats in the Assembly elections and is poised to form the government. This includes 42 seats for the National Conference, 6 for the Indian National Congress, and 1 for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI (M).

He also congratulated National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah after the results.
"Congratulations to National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah ji and Deputy Speaker and head of the coalition government, Omar Abdullah ji, on their spectacular victory," he added in his post on X.

He further stated that the mandate by the people of Union territory is against the 'anti-people policies' of the BJP.
"This mandate has been given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir against the anti-people policies of the BJP, violation and oppression of people's rights, and misuse of constitutional institutions," he said in the same post.
Kharge termed Haryana's result as 'unexpected', adding that the party will release a 'detailed response' after talking to the party's ground worker and checking the facts.
In Haryana, BJP won 48 seats in Haryana assembly, getting an absolute majority in the 90-member House. The party is poised to form its third successive government in the state.
"The result of Haryana is unexpected. The party is assessing public opinion. After talking to our ground workers, getting complete information and checking the facts, a detailed response will come from the party," the congress president said.
"We thank the people of Haryana for voting for the Congress party. Our hardworking workers need not feel disappointed. Our fight against dictatorship is a long one," he added in his post. (ANI)
