Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], November 15 (ANI): Rajasthan Minister Jawahar Singh Bedam on Friday questioned the supporters of independent candidate Naresh Meena who had clased with Police in Tonk on Wednesday. Violence had broken out after Deoli Uniara's independent candidate Naresha Meena allegedly slapped Malpura Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amit Chaudhary.
"The CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has promised to provide employment opportunities to the youth. He is talking about giving four lakh jobs in the government sector and six lakh jobs in the private sector, then where and why is there a need to take the law into your hands? I would appeal to all to maintain peace in the state. If anyone tries to disturb the peace, it will not be tolerated. The youth needs to follow and work together with us on bringing the state to the top," Bedam said speaking to ANI.
Further, he said that Congress was fighting an internal fight and Ashok Gehlot was imposing restrictions on his party's candidates.
Bedam said "Congress is fighting an internal fight and Ashok Gehlot is imposing restrictions on his party's workers. The candidate is contesting as an independent candidate is a Congress worker. Why he created the ruckus should be interrogated by the party. The incident that has taken place in Deoli Uniara is condemnable and shameful and such incidents are fatal for democracy. I would want to tell the youth that they should not get misled by anyone. No one should misuse you to increase their political TRP."
Earlier, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot took a hit at the ruling BJP government over the law and order situation in the state.
"The credibility of police in Rajasthan has ended. Law and order has collapsed. Why did a situation arise where an SDM was slapped? How did he (Independent MLA Naresh Meena) have the courage to do such a thing? This incident was not a minor incident. The BJP has no tolerance towards suggestions from the Opposition. What has the state government done in this year? When there is no fear among people, they take the law into their own hands, this is the situation in the entire state today," he said.
The Ajmer Inspector General (IG) Om Prakash had arrested Meena along with others involved and peace was restored in the district. (ANI)
