Tamil Nadu Attracts Maximum Patients from Across the Country and Abroad for Treatment: Minister
Chennai: Tamil Nadu's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, MA Subramanian, stated on Friday that the state has become a hub for medical facilities, not only for its residents but also for patients from neighbouring states and abroad. The minister attributed this to the adoption of modern technology and the state's efforts to provide quality healthcare.
Subramanian was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the KIMS Health Nagercoil Hospital. He said that in recent years, the state has witnessed a significant transformation in its healthcare sector, which has led to an increase in the number of patients seeking treatment for critical illnesses such as organ transplants, heart diseases, neurology, and cancer.
According to the state's tourism department, over 15 lakh patients visit Tamil Nadu every year for medical diagnosis and treatment. The state has over 12,500 hospital beds, nearly 10 lakh registered doctors, 48 government medical colleges, and hundreds of private specialty and multi-specialty hospitals.
Dr. MI Sahadulla, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Health, said that the goal of the organization is to serve a large community and provide quality medical facilities.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including State Industries Minister TRB Raja, Dairy Development Minister T Mano Thangaraj, and other officials.
