HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government has forged tie-ups with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras to drive innovation and strengthen digital skills in the state.
As part of the move, eight agreements were signed between the two parties, with a focus on deep-tech innovation, digital education, maritime research, and governance systems.
The IIT Madras, will provide consultancy to set up a deep-tech incubation park in Amaravati. The institute will enable tie-ups between Andhra Pradesh and international universities, reports quoted IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti as saying.
The IIT, Madras will introduce digital skilling programmes across the state through its SWAYAM Plus and Vidhya Shakti. These initiatives aim to upskill students and teachers, and bridging gaps in the digital workforce.
Andhra Pradesh’s aviation industry is poised for growth as Kuppam and Puttaparthi are being developed as logistics and maintenance hubs.
Maritime research and coastal energy harvesting technologies will get credible support, promising economic opportunities in the region.
Vizag Internet gateway
The partnership will strengthen Visakhapatnam’s role as a global internet gateway. Leveraging IIT Madras’ expertise, Visakhapatnam is expected to transform into a critical hub for data connectivity.
Amaravati’s Smart Tech-Enabled Sports City project will integrate cutting-edge technology with sports infrastructure.
AI and data science in administration
IIT Madras will also help develop advanced governance systems using AI and data science to enhance administrative efficiency in the state.
Referring to the collaboration, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu posted on social media platform X, “Met with a delegation from IIT Madras, led by Director Prof. Veezhinathan Kamakoti to explore transformative collaborations for Andhra Pradesh.”
