The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry ( FICCI) and the Game Developers Association of India ( GDAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Indian Game Developers Conference (IGDC) 2024. The partnership aims to accelerate growth, drive innovation, and enhance skill development in India’s rapidly expanding video gaming industry.
This MoU represents a significant milestone in creating a robust video gaming ecosystem in India, setting the stage for the industry’s next wave of growth and international recognition.
"FICCI is delighted to collaborate with GDAI to propel growth in India’s burgeoning video gaming sector. This partnership aims to build a strong ecosystem by advocating for industry-friendly policies at both state and national levels, while promoting innovation, skill development, and sustainable growth across the Media & Entertainment sector. The MoU reflects our commitment to nurturing talent and positioning India as a global leader in gaming intellectual property (IP), leveraging FICCI’s policy expertise and GDAI’s extensive developer network,” said Leena Jaisani, Deputy Director General, FICCI.
“We at GDAI are excited to partner with FICCI to shape policy and advocacy for India’s video gaming industry. As the organisation behind IGDC and key talent development initiatives, GDAI understands the unique needs of the sector. FICCI brings a wealth of policy engagement experience. Together, we aim to establish a supportive framework that fosters growth and innovation, positioning India as a leader in video game IPs. This partnership underscores our commitment to representing developers nationwide and advancing the Indian video gaming industry,” stated Sridhar Muppidi, Chairperson, Game Developers Association of India.
The FICCI-GDAI collaboration aims to harness FICCI’s strengths in policy advocacy alongside GDAI’s expansive network of game developers to champion policies conducive to growth and regulatory clarity.
The partnership will focus on:
Policy Framework Development: Establishing policies that support the sustainable growth of India’s gaming industry.
Knowledge Exchange Platforms: Facilitating dialogue between domestic and international industry experts to share best practices and innovations.
Workshops and Training: Enhancing the technical and creative skills of Indian game developers.
FICCI will spearhead advocacy efforts to develop policy frameworks in consultation with industry stakeholders and government bodies, ensuring the implementation of pro-industry strategies.
GDAI will contribute by providing access to its extensive network within the global gaming community and maintaining industry standards.
