Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Singh Patani, has incurred a major financial loss. The former deputy SP has reportedly been defrauded of Rs 25 lakh by a group of five individuals who promised him a prestigious position in a government commission. According to police reports on Friday, the Patanis filed an FIR at Bareilly Kotwali police station that same evening.
In his complaint, Patani alleged that he handed over Rs 5 lakh in cash and transferred an additional Rs 20 lakh to three different bank accounts based on the group’s assurances. However, after three months of no progress, he demanded his money back, only to face threats and hostile behavior from the accused. Patani stated that Shivendra Pratap Singh, someone he knew personally, introduced him to two others, Diwakar Garg and Acharya Jayaprakash.
The suspects allegedly claimed to have strong political connections and promised to secure a high-ranking position for Patani, such as chairman or vice chairman in a government commission. To lend credibility to their scheme, they introduced an accomplice posing as an “officer on special duty” named Himanshu, further convincing Patani of their influence.
D.K. Sharma, the officer in charge at Kotwali police station, confirmed the case against Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash of Juna Akhara, Preeti Garg, and one unidentified individual. The charges include cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion. “Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused and ensure strict action,” Sharma stated.
On the work front, Patani last appeared in the Tamil epic fantasy film ‘Kanguva’ opposite Suriya. Bobby Deol stars as the antagonist. The magnum opus, which was released at the theatres on November 14, earned an impressive Rs 58 crore worldwide on its opening day.
The ‘Ek Villain Returns’ actress will also be seen in the upcoming comedy film ‘Welcome To The Jungle’. This will be the third installment to the iconic ‘Welcome’ franchise. Headlined by Akshay Kumar, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ will have a stellar cast that includes names such as Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Suniel Shetty, Bobby Deol, Aftab Shivdasani, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vrihi Kodvara, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav and many more.
