Hyderabad set for a wet week as IMD warns of thunderstorms and lightning; Here's what residents should know!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted thunderstorms in Hyderabad and six other Telangana districts on October 6. According to an IMD bulletin, thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas of Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

Hyderabad has been experiencing continuous rainfall over the past few days. Due to the heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad on Sunday, warning of thunderstorms and lightning. Today’s forecast predicts a generally cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers.

The bulletin indicated, “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur towards evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30 and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.”


The maximum temperature is anticipated to reach 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius.


Relative humidity levels will hover between 78 percent and 87 percent.The IMD has forecast rain in Hyderabad throughout the week.

On October 6 and 7, the city will likely see a cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers. Temperatures will range between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius during the day and between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius at night.

On October 8, the morning is expected to be partly cloudy, becoming generally cloudy by afternoon or evening with potential rain or thundershowers accompanied by squalls.

The temperatures will range between 23 and 34 degrees Celsius.

October 9 will again see a cloudy sky with potential rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature will be 33 degrees Celsius, and the minimum will be 23 degrees Celsius.

For October 10, Hyderabad is predicted to have a generally cloudy sky with possible rainfall or thunderstorms. The temperature will range from 22 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Finally, on October 11, the city is expected to have a partly cloudy sky with a chance of rain or thunderstorms, and temperatures ranging from 23 to 34 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning in multiple areas of Telangana, including Kamareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Jangaon, and Rangareddy.
