Singer Abhirami Suresh recently shared her dreams about having a happy marriage without a divorce. In a Q&A video with her sister, fellow singer Amrutha, she addressed several questions about relationships and love. She admitted that although she’s not wholly opposed to the institution of marriage, she is wary of it due to her sister’s less than happy experience. For the unversed, Amrutha was earlier married to Tamil actor Bala. She recently accused him of domestic violence.
“I wish for a marriage without divorce,” Abhirami said. “Whether that will happen or not, I don’t know—it would take some luck too. It’s not that I’m against marriage; I just feel afraid after seeing my sister’s experience.” She explained what made her disillusioned about marriage. “If a wrong choice is made and we end up with someone who doesn’t suit us, it’s okay to part ways with mutual respect. But if I unknowingly fall in love with someone who turns out to be harmful, then that’s the end. That’s why I’m scared. This fear is the reason I haven’t married yet. But I do want to get married, and I believe it will happen one day.”
Abhirami also opened up about her sister’s struggles. “Beyond being my sister, Amrutha Suresh is a person who has never harmed anyone. I’ve often wondered why everyone dislikes someone like her,” she said.
Amrutha recently made disturbing allegations of abuse following the viral video posted by her daughter Avantika regarding Bala. The 12-year-old talked about the "mental and physical torment" her mother endured at the hands of Bala.
As a result, Avantika received backlash online, which was later met with an emotional response from Bala. Additionally, a woman claiming to be Amrutha Suresh’s former assistant accused Bala of serious offenses, asserting that he committed marital rape and engaged in unnatural sexual acts against Amrutha. For context, Bala and Amrutha separated in 2019, and they share a daughter named Avantika.
