Netflix has officially renewed its hit romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This for a second season, much to the delight of fans. Starring Adam Brody as Rabbi Noah and Kristen Bell as podcaster Joanne, the series has captured audiences with its unique blend of humor, heart, and the undeniable chemistry between the two leads. With a compelling storyline that leaves viewers both laughing and reflecting, Nobody Wants This has sparked what some call a "rom-com renaissance."

The first season, which premiered on September 26, 2023, quickly became a fan favorite, topping Netflix’s Top 10 English language TV chart with 15.9 million views in its first week. Just two weeks after its debut, the series was renewed, with writing for season two already underway. New showrunners, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan—both known for their work on Girls—will take over from Erin Foster, who remains as an executive producer. “I’m excited beyond belief to be a part of season two,” Kaplan said in a statement shared by Variety. “It’s such a unique and beautiful show.”

Cliffhanger Ending Leaves Fans Wanting More

Season one ended on a cliffhanger that left viewers eager for more. Noah and Joanne, who come from vastly different worlds—he’s a rabbi, and she’s an agnostic sex podcaster—find themselves questioning if their love can withstand their cultural and personal differences. The final scene hints at Noah’s willingness to make a major life change to be with Joanne, but the show leaves the audience without a definitive answer, setting the stage for further exploration in season two.

As Adam Brody, who plays Noah, shared with Netflix, “I interpreted the ending as Noah telling Joanne, ‘I put you first. Everything else will work itself out.’ But, in the light of day, will he still feel that way? It’s an open question.” Brody also pointed out that the second season will dive deeper into the complexities of their relationship. “You don’t have to cut off a part of yourself to be with someone else. Ideally, you grow together.”

Themes of Love, Sacrifice, and Identity

The upcoming season is set to continue exploring the couple’s journey as they navigate love, identity, and the sacrifices that come with commitment. Joanne’s non-Jewish background remains a significant hurdle in Noah’s life, both personally and religiously. While she has considered converting to Judaism, her uncertainty about fully committing to this path has added another layer of tension. Fans are eager to see if Noah and Joanne’s love can conquer these challenges or if their differences will ultimately pull them apart.

The renewal of Nobody Wants This was announced by Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles. "The cast and crew have worked so hard to bring this incredible story to life, and we can’t wait to see where season two takes us," Bajaria said. Fans took to social media to express their excitement, with one user tweeting, "Best news ever made my day honestly," and another writing, "Hot rabbi is coming back! Time to revisit Seth Cohen before season 2 drops!"

Season two is expected to premiere in 2025, with Konner, Kaplan, and a talented team of producers leading the way. Alongside the returning stars, viewers can expect the same charm, wit, and emotional depth that made the first season a success. The question remains: Will Noah and Joanne’s love survive the test of time, or will their differences be too much to overcome?

Only time will tell, but one thing is certain—fans can’t wait to find out.
