Rohini Nilekani emerges as India's most generous woman, donates Rs 450+ cr with hubby Nandan, reveals Hurun List 2024

According to the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List 2024, Rohini Nilekani has earned the title of India’s most generous woman. With a personal donation of INR 154 crores, she leads the list of Indian women philanthropists. Together with her husband, Nandan Nilekani, the couple has contributed a total of over 450 crores to various causes this year.

India’s Philanthropic Power Couple
Rohini and Nandan Nilekani have made giving back a core part of their lives for decades. In 2017, they signed the Giving Pledge, a commitment to donate at least half of their wealth to charity, joining other global philanthropists who aim to create positive change. Over the last 30 years, they have used their success to support social causes, especially in education and community development, the Hurun India release said.

Rohini Nilekani, at 65, ranks tenth among India’s top philanthropists. As Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies and Co-founder of EkStep, a non-profit educational platform, she channels her efforts into empowering communities and strengthening educational resources across India.


Who is Nandan Nilekani?
Nandan Nilekani, 69, is known not only as the co-founder of Infosys but also as the mind behind India’s Aadhaar identity system. His philanthropic donation this year is a notable INR 307 crores, a 62% increase over last year’s contribution. Ranked sixth on the list, he shows a steadfast dedication to improving lives in India.
