Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone has become the latest celebrity to publicly endorse US President-elect Donald Trump, drawing comparisons between Trump and historic figures during a gala at Mar-a-Lago.

Speaking at the America First Policy Institute Gala on Thursday, Stallone called Trump a "mythical character," likening him to George Washington and even to Jesus Christ, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Stallone, whose career peaked during Trump's early years as a real estate mogul, expressed admiration for the incoming president's achievements, saying no one else could have accomplished what he has.

"We're in the presence of a really mythical character," Stallone told the crowd, adding, "I love mythology. And this individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I'm in awe."

Stallone went on to compare Trump to George Washington, saying, "When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was gonna change the world... Guess what? We got the second George Washington."

The actor also drew a parallel between Trump and his iconic 'Rocky' character, describing how both figures experienced life-changing transformations.

"At that moment, he was a chosen person... this man was gonna go through a metamorphosis and change lives, just like President Trump," Stallone said.

After Stallone's speech, Trump took the stage, where the two shared a handshake, signalling mutual respect.

Stallone’s public endorsement adds him to a small group of Hollywood figures supporting Trump, including actors Kelsey Grammer and Drea de Matteo, and YouTube star Jack Paul. This comes despite the entertainment industry's general backing of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris during the election.

The gala, organised by the America First Policy Institute, a think tank aligned with Trump’s political vision, serves as a fundraising event to support his policy agenda. The institute has been described as a "White House in waiting" and advocates for policies such as tariffs on imports, corporate tax cuts, religious freedom protections, and reversing certain climate change measures.
