Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express Derailed Near Howrah, No Casualties

Three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed near Howrah station on Saturday morning, located approximately 40 km from Kolkata. Fortunately, South Eastern Railway reported that no casualties or significant injuries occurred during the incident.

The train, which operates weekly, was in transit to Secunderabad when it derailed at Nalpur station at 5:31 AM. A parcel van and two passenger coaches were among the derailed coaches of the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express.

In response, the railways quickly dispatched accident relief and medical trains from Santragachi and Kharagpur to the derailment site. Ten buses were also arranged to transport affected passengers to Kolkata. The Chief Public Relations Officer, Om Prakash Charan, reiterated that there were no major injuries or casualties reported.

Furthermore, helpline numbers have been established for passenger assistance, including Kharagpur Railway (63764) and Kharagpur P&T (032229-3764). Efforts are ongoing to restore normal operations. Helpdesk numbers for Shalimar, Santragachi, Kharagpur, and Howrah stations are also operational for providing additional support.
