Navelim, located in South Goa, is one of the biggest villages in the State, and the largest parish in the Archdiocese of Goa. This month, the Navelim Church celebrates the feast of its patroness, Our Lady of the Rosary.
What’s even more interesting is that while the Catholic Church traditionally observes the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary in October, it is celebrated in Navelim in the third week of November.
The nine days of novenas are being held at the Navelim Church, in Navelim, from November 11, 2024 to November 19, 2024, while the feast of of the Rosary will be celebrated on November 20, 2024.
The schedule of masses on the feast and novena days is as follows:
NOVENA MASSES: November 11, 2024 to November 19, 2024
Morning: 5.15 am, 6.30 am, 7.45 am, 9 am
Evening: 6 pm
In addition to daily masses on all the novena days, there are also confessions, adoration and recitation of the rosary. The schedule is as follows:
CONFESSIONS: All novena days
Morning: 6.15 am to 9 am
Evening: 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm
ROSARY & ADORATION: All novena days
Morning: 4.25 am (rosary)
: 5 pm to 6 pm (rosary & adoration)
FEAST DAY MASSES: Wednesday, November 20, 2024
On the day, there will be masses in the morning only, at 5 am, 6.15 am, 7.30 am, 8.45 am, 10 am (high mass), 12 noon (English)
Goa Auxiliary Bishop, Fr Simião Purificação Fernandes will preside over the solemn high mass, which will be celebrated at 10 am.

The Our Lady of Rosary Church in , South Goa, also known as Nossa Senhora do Rosário em Navelim in Portuguese, is a significant landmark in the region.
Founded in 1597 by a French Jesuit, the church is commonly referred to as the Navelim Church.
Situated in the most populous parish of the Archdiocese of Goa, the church holds great historical and cultural importance.
The church’s annual feast, the Feast of of the Rosary, is celebrated with pomp and tradition on the third Wednesday of November each year, drawing pilgrims and devotees from across the region.
