SC orders SIT probe

While the state of AP is already probing into issue of Ghee adulteration, the Court has asked for an independent probe into the issue. There should no political involvement the court ruled.

The Supreme Court has ordered an independent probe by a Special Investigation Team into the allegations of using animal fat in laddoos served as prasad at the Tirupati temple.

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan said it does not want a political drama over this matter since it is a matter of faith for millions of devotees across the world.

The case stems from an allegation by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu that animal fat was used in the making of laddoos at the temple during the previous regime led by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

There were many complaints about the taste of the world-famous TTD Laddu. Now the taste is better and there is ghee aroma around the area where the Laddu is being prepared. It is done with mechanised facilities.
